September in Texas brings football, fall, and the State Fair of Texas! Beginning September 24 it’s time to loosen your belt and dive into some state fair food that is deep-fried, covered in powdered sugar and served on a stick. Not to forget Corn Dogs, Funnel Cakes, chocolate-covered bacon, fried coffee, caramel apples, and fried tacos.
However, all of these heavy fried food can put a strain on your waistline and your heart. While we know you can’t pass up the chance to indulge in some fair favorites, try to balance this out with some heart-healthy ones as well.
To make it easier, we have put together a list of food vendors where you can find some delectables on the lighter side with vegetarian options, vegan options, and even gluten-free!
You can download this map to help you find your way.
